    Acute respiratory tract infections are the most common illnesses in childhood,while the most frequent bacterial infection among children is otitismedia. Seventy five percent of children have one or ... more episodes of otitis media before the age of three years. The frequency of acute respiratoryinfections and otitis media among children treated in the primary paediatric health care centre Šempeter near Nova Gorica is presented. The frequency of antibiotic usage, duration of treatment and the most frequent reasons for the early cessation of treatment with antibiotics are presented.
