  • The land boundary between the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Croatia and the negotiations on the maritime boundary delimitation
Simoniti, Iztok, 1948- ; Sotlar, Marko
This essay deals with the standpoint of the Republic of Slovenia regarding its land boundary with the neighbouring Republic of Croatia, with special consideration paid separately to the Slovenian ... position in the negotiations on the maritime boundary delimitation. The issue of the existenceand position of the state border on land is not contestable, since itis already defined by the Basic Constitutional Charter on Independence and Sovereignty of the Republic of Slovenia. Similar concept was adopted by the Republic of Croatia too, meaning that the land boundary between the republics (with the framework of the former state) already exists, but is not demarcatedon terrain. The situation concerning the status of the future maritime boundary between the countries is quite different. While the land boundary between the countries existed before, it was never delimited on the sea and had to be determined in both countries' history for the first time.
