  • Mass transfer in the liquid fluidized beds of ion exchange resins

    Liquid side mass transfer coefficients were measured in the fluidized bed of the ion-exchange resin Amberlite IRA-400. The experimental results can best be sumarized with the empirical equation ... ▫$Sh=0.91\epsilon{-0.47}Re^0.55Sc^0.33▫$ The comparison of the results with the existing correlations for the mass transfer coefficients shows that none of them describes the mass transfer data well in the low Re number range. The best approximation is obtained with the ralationship, which Beek is recommending for the Re number range 5-500.
