  • Small scale testing of two storey-two bay R/C frames with masonry infills

    Three models of masonry infilled reinforced concrete frames constructed in 1:4 reduced scale have been tested. Two of them, two storey two bay planar models, have been tested on horizontal cyclic ... loading in laboratory of ZRMK, Ljubljana, Slovenia. The third model was spatial structure that has been tested on the shaking table at University of Bristol, UK. All models were designed according to true replica modelling technique with mechanical properties of building materials rediced in the same scale as dimensions. Detailing of the construction followed the Eurocode 8 rules as far as possible in the small scale of the structure. The aim of testing was to define the response mechanism of the structure and to provide experimental data for development of inelastic mathematical model. Experimental results were compared with results of numerical analysis. Inelastic analysis was performed with new element for diagonal strut method of infill incorporated into program DRAIN-2DX. Good match between numeric and experimental results shows that analysis performed with new element for infills is successful and could be used for prediction of response for reinforced concrete frame structures with masonry infills
