  • Semantic technologies in e-learning [Elektronski vir]

    Via the LMS system eCampus we are developing new opportunities for more efficient and user-adapted e-learning, in the context of international research and applied project OntoWiki. With this ... development we are going to implement an intelligent search of the entire knowledge base, introduce automatically adapted learning content, enable automatic adjustment of individual learning paths and connect learning content with external sources. These enabling semantic technologies derive from the need to allow computers to identify the potential meaning of data. In fact, if we could ensure standardized method for determining the meaning of data and meaningful connections, we could expect a number of consequential benefits such as automatic detection of new connections between data and investigation of data on the basis of meaning, and not only syntactical similarity. Semantic technologies require the establishment of standards for the description of the RDF data and producing the relevant ontologies. The paper further identifies the basis of semantic web and describes the application example of such technologies in the area of e-learning support systems.
