  • Use of square-root criterion for increase in efficiency of sorption cooling devices = [Uporaba korenskega kriterija za dvig učinkovitosti sorpcijskih hladilnih naprav] : doctoral thesis

    ǂIn ǂthis work a method is presented, which enables an increase in efficiency of sorption cooling devices on a basis of thermodynamic and simple economic analysis of the device. The method uses a ... so-called square-root criterion for an optimisation of relations between areas of heat exchangers in the sorption device. A minimal total heat exchange area is determinated at a fixed efficiency, or a maximal efficiency is found for a given heat exchange area. In this work we focused on the optimisation of adsorption and reaction cooling devices, where the method was not used before. This is due to a necessary transformation of a dynamic cycle to a quasi-steady cycle, which is a condition for success of the calculations. A presentation of experimental reaction cooling device, which was a basis for the presentation of the application of square-root criterion, is followed by an analysis of measurement results and comparison of measured and simulated values. With the use of square-root criterion, which distributes the heat exchange area in the optimised way, a first cost of the device could be lowered already before its construction.
