  • The human perception of music : the most intricate and complex referential system
    Salmič Kovačič, Karmen
The primary purpose of the article is to highlight the human being as a referential system, especially their emotional perception of music, their capability/incapability to perceive music as a pure ... aesthetic phenomenon, their "exclusion of emotions" and the relationship between the human mental, emotional and sensual perception. We shall mention the issue of modernism which mostly denies emotional perception, yet it does not exclude mental perception and by that still puts the category of progress and not the aesthetic category in the forefront. The purpose of the article is to prove that people are by themselves enough intricate and complex referential systems, therefore we cannot talk about the autonomy of music not even when itseems that it is a not part of some other social function but an independent human achievement.
