  • Rechtstexte und maschinelle Übersetzung?
    Gruntar Jermol, Ada
The use of typical combinations of words (i.e., collocations) is much more obligatory in legal language than in general language. Thus, translation must take into account the special features of ... legal language, and overly free expression should be avoided. In recent times, there has been much talk of neural machine translation, which is said to be particularly advanced and sometimes produces almost error-free translation results. This article examines whether machine translation is also suitable for legal texts or for normative (legislative) texts. It determines that neural machine translation for legal language, especially at the lexical level - that is, regarding terminology and fixed phrases - remains insufficiently developed.
