  • E-training remote assembly systems [Elektronski vir]
Perme, Tomaž, 1963- ; Noe, Dragica
The growing complexity of modern manufacturing and assembly systems demands engineers that can plane, build, and operate these systems, and have a more comprehensive and deeper knowledge about the ... operation and control of components and complete systems. During the education and training processes, students and engineers have to get this knowledge, as well as some practical experience. The concept of Remote Assembly System (RAS) can help lecturers to give students more on-spot examples, and students as well as engineers to get more practical experience with programming and control of real assembly systems. In this paper, the RAS concept, including examples and practical experience are presented. The example of RAS consists of assembly systems and a personal computer with a remote control system that enables programming and practical course and the results are very promising - they spent less time in the laboratory but they got more practical experience by working at home. In spite of that there are still some problems from a technological point of view that are presented and discussed.
