  • The colour of polyester fibres depending on dyeing process [Elektronski vir]
Fakin, Darinka ; Golob, Darko, 1956-
The aim of this research was to study the influences of processes (one- or two-bath) and dyeing media (alkaline or acid) on the CIELAB colour values and colour differences of polyster threads, using ... five disperse dyes (Yellow, Red,Blue, Violet and Black). Polyester threads are usually dyed in acid media in a high temperature process (130 °C), using two baths, where dyeing and reductive cleaning are conducted in separate baths. The problem when alkali dyeing with disperse dyes is hydrolysis of the functional group in the dye molecule. For this reason commercial disperse dyes, suitable for alkaki dyeing, were used in this research. The dyeing processes were evaluated with spectrophotometric determination of dye residue concentration in the dye bath, ecological analyses of the dyebath, and colorimetric evaluation of the dyed threads.
