  • Multiprocessor robot controller with the open structure

    More and more tasks in the working machines are treated as a software problem and not as a mechanical problem as it used to be. Example is compensation of the tolerances in manufacturing of the ... mechanical parts of the machines, their wear and tear and elasticity. Consequently extensive processor power and software that enables the inclusion of a new and modification of already existing algorithms are required. Controller with the open structure architecture meets all the demands.This article presents our approach to the distribution of the tasks of the robot controller followed by implementation on a multi-processor controller of the laser cutting machine. Our advanced laser cutting system, consist of laser beam source, which is available on the free market, and XY table with multiprocessor controller, which were developed at our institute. The controller is PC based width open hardware and software architecture. Complete laser cutting system represents successfull industrial application of emerging technologies.
