  • Numerical determination of the face load factor ▫$K_{F\beta}$▫ for spur gears

    The purpose of this paper is to show how the changing contact area between meshing gear teeth influences the stress field in gear tooth root, a phenomenon often observed in real gear assemblies. It ... is also intended to draw attention to the disadvantages of the standard proceedures, as those provided by DIN and ISO norms. The finite element method is used for 3-D computational analysis of the stress field in the tooth root depending on the non-uniform load distribution along the tooth width. Computational results of the maximum stresses for the corresponding face load factors ▫%K_F\beta$▫ are compared with the analytical results according to the ISO 6336 standard. The analysis of results shows the main advantage to be gained using the 3-D numerical simulation instead of standard methods.
