  • Površinske in adsorpcijke lastnosti plemenitenih celuloznih vlaken : letno poročilo o rezultatih temeljnega raziskovalnega projekta [za MZT Slovenije]
    Stana-Kleinschek, Karin
The main steps of cellulose pre-treatment processes are degradation of non cellulose compounds and oxidation of natural pigments. Prctically all purification processes of cotton fibres are ... questionable because of their rather high environmental pollution. During these processes the fibrillar structure if cotton is loosened, thus causing swelling of the polymee as well as increased accessibility of active groups on the fiber surface. It is assumed that these surface modifications of the solid phase change the electrokinetic properties and of the interaction with components of liquid phase. The electrokinetic properties can be discussed in view of the fibersʹ zetapotential, a term which describes the electrokinetic properties in that position of the solid-liquid interface which is accessible to interactions. In this project the surface charge of cellulose fibres is defined as a function of different purification process steps and correlated with the following phenomena: swelling of fibres, the interaction energy between fibres and surfactants, and the final state of the fiber surface (degree of purification, the amount of adsorbed surfactant, the shade of colour).
