  • Application of reference architecture directions in creating an information integrated enterprise
    Vujica-Herzog, Nataša ; Polajnar, Andrej, 1944- ; Fulder, Tatjana
The paper presents a holistic approach to the development of an information-integrated enterprise. It is based on reference achitectures and is meant to fill up the gap occurring in this foeld. The ... main requirement an information system has to satisfy is to provide and maintain an integrated information flow throughout the enetrprise, thus ensuring the right information to be available in the desired quality and quantity whenever needed. Recent information systems mainly support singuar integrated business processes rather than the whole enterprise operation. Four architectures for potential use in Slovenian enterprises have been studied: GRAI-GIM, PERA, CIMOSA and ARIS. The analysis of these aechitectures has revealed that they have very different structures and that they focus on different fields, although they all pursue the same goal, i.e. the setting up of an information integrated enterprise. Hence it follows that the company alone should decide which architecture fits best its way of reasoning, its ideas, concepts, usage of modelling methods, etc.
