  • The influence of fabric construction on the mechanical properties of the compound fabric

    By the use of woven fabrics for specific technical application, the most important properties are their mechanical properties. If woven fabric is used as reinforcement in the compound fabric, it is ... very difficult to predict the mechanical properties of compound fabric, while they are not influenced only by construction of each layer but also by the method of linking. In this paper we have investigated the difference between woven and nonwoven fabric mechanical properties of compound fabric, their effect on the mechanical properties of the compound fabric and the effect of finishing. Compound fabric, made by "sandwich" process of two layers of needle punched nonwoven fabric and three layers of woven fabric, were tested. The tensile strength, elongation, Young s module, the work to rupture and the tensile force by 1% of elongation, were measured and analysed.
