    In their description of this serious combined injury the authors wish to show the importance of early operative treatment of a femoral neck fracture in children and the difficulties with which we ... meet in polytraumatised patients and bacause of which we must sometimes abandon the accepted principles in the interest of life preservation, in spite of the fact that for this reason we might even expect poorer functional results of operatively treated femoral neck fractures and of other fractures considereded to be needful of urgent operative treatment.
