  • The basis for a pilot project for the development of distance education at the University College of Nursing Studies of the University of Maribor

    Today, distance education (teaching and learning) is a must. The lecturers`practice and other forms of teaching, the work of libraries and the learning in the old traditional scenario are separate ... processes. Distance learning in the new digital scenario in an inevitable consequence of the totally changed context, in which digital library`s services and the learning process overlap. There are a number of offers and a lot of information on the Internet/www today, dealing with distance education and also relating to the distance nursing education. The result of research, which was done in May 1998, suggest that the students at the University College of Nursing Studies of the Maribor University (UCNSUM) are satisfied with the subject Nursing Informatics, but they did not include distance learning in there responses (suggestions). The need to modernise the teaching and learning process at UCNSUM and of the nurses in practice includes also the demand to employ distance education. Preparation of the pilot project on distance education at UNCSUM is proposed.
