  • Some ecological solutions for restoration of the City of Celje and its outskirts
    Leskošek, Milka ...
After World War II industrial production in Celje started to develop intensively. The desire for progress and affluance was so strong that no attention was paid to the demage that was being caused to ... the environment. In Celje there was considerable number of quaified people with the right qualifications, ranging from skilled manual workers to higly educated experts. However, the geografical position of the town was not suitable for the development of chemical, textile, timber and metal industries and iron works. Thus, the industrialisation and urbanisation caused extensive pollution of air, surface waters, drinking water and soil. The growing environmental problems in the town required most urgently the improvement of the strategies to combat pollution. As a result, we have gained experience in the monitoring of pollution and the measures taken to reduce environmental pollution, as well as to decrease the intensity of pollution. Today, the construction of new industrial plants and introduction of new technological processes, are now the potential harmful effects of the new plant on the environment.
