The article focuses on the consequences of tensions and conflicts between the individual and collective memory of the population in the region of Gorizia/Nova Gorica. In particular, it attempts to understand and analyze differences in the construction and narration of memory. It shows how, especially on important present-day occasions, such as the entry of Slovenia into the EU or into the Schengen area, the media on both sides emphasizes the reunion of one city. Articles mainly focussed on the idea of a »divided« city striving to be reunited after the Cold War frost.
