    Acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a serious problem in recipients of allogeneic bone marrow grafts 1 . Several approaches have been used to prevent it. Removal of T cells that are responsible for acute GVHD 2 , 3 resulted in a lower incidence of this complication but a higher incidence of graft failure and relapse 3 , 4 . Another approach to the prophylaxis of acute GVHD is the use of immunosuppressive drugs such as methotrexate, cyclosporine, and cyclophosphamide, either singly or combined with other agents, including prednisone 5 – 10 .
