In order to enhance the value of the results of the Socio-Economic Survey 2001, the "Atlas of Belgium" program, financed by the Federal Science Policy office and in collaboration with the National Atlas Commission, published monographs and a National Atlas divided into thematic volumes. From this third paper atlas to the digital atlas, the path was important, both in terms of challenges for a permanent update of the thematic maps and of constraints in the face of an evolving spatiality. The Atlas of Belgium is intended to be at the service of users and has only been possible thanks to the work of many collaborators, including our colleague Marc Binard, whose work we describe in this paper. Afin de valoriser les résultats de l’enquête socio-économique 2001, le programme de l’Atlas de Belgique, financé par la Politique scientifique fédérale (BELSPO) et en collaboration avec la Commission de l’Atlas national, a publié des monographies et un atlas national réparti en tomes thématiques. De cette troisième édition en version imprimée de l’atlas, à une réalisation numérique de l’atlas, le chemin était important, tant en matière de défis pour une actualisation permanente des cartes thématiques, que de contraintes face à une spatialité évolutive. L’Atlas de Belgique se veut être au service des utilisateurs et n’a pu se réaliser que grâce au travail de nombreux collaborateurs, dont notre collègue Marc Binard dont nous retraçons les travaux dans ce présent article.
