According to the hypothesis advanced in earlier works, the hydrogenation, embrittlement, and cracking of metals are the main cause of their sulfide stress-corrosion fracture. However, in some works, this concept is negated or the role of hydrogen is not considered to be the main. Hence, to evaluate its influence on the mechanism of sulfide stress-corrosion cracking (SSCC), we have carried out special investigations in this field. Steels used in this study were: 20, 09G2S, and 14Kh2GMR.
