    Book Chapter

This chapter describes how Jerry explains to Dennis that he would not be able to gain much momentum for the Indirect Purchasing team. It is going to be very difficult to keep them motivated when they do not feel the support. Jerry explains how the vendors complain you do not pay them fast enough; the divisions complain you do not pay the vendors fast enough. Jerry further explains that the divisions complain that you charge too much for your services, and that his team is constantly being asked to work harder, faster, and more efficiently, yet when they try to make positive changes, many times the divisions simply refuse to support their initiative. Jerry resigns after being burned out on Shared Services for one thing. He has a hard time being in the middle between the divisions and the vendors and customers and having to constantly defend himself and his team.
