The special libraries and information services (SLIS) division has begun 2023 strongly with not just one, but two field trips already in the books. The division began March with a walking tour of Historic Oakland Cemetery on a misty Friday. This trip had been originally planned for November 11th but was canceled because of a tropical storm moving through Atlanta that day. When they finally met up, they had a working breakfast meeting at Ria's Bluebird in Grant Park and discussed programming for the year. After they were fueled up by good food and ideas, they walked over to tour Oakland with their fantastic tour guide Walt who regaled them with numerous stories about Oakland's residents. They even stopped to pay their respects to Mayor Maynard Jackson.
