This paper is the second of two papers which describe the simultaneous measurement of time resolved heat flux and local velocity at the surface of a cylinder in cross flow. Tests are conducted with high freestream turbulence for a range of Reynolds numbers and transition to turbulence occurs within the boundary layer on the cylinder. The coherence and phase difference between the velocity and heat flux signals are used to deduce that, in contrast to the low freestream turbulence case considered in Part 1, most of the heat transfer fluctuations at the front of the cylinder originate in the small turbulent eddies present in the flow.
