The case of a 34-year-old previously healthy woman firefighter who was admitted to San Francisco General Hospital on Mar 9, 1995 with a severe inhalation injury and 40% partial thickness burns involving her face, neck, abdomen and legs is described. A laparotomy revealed necrotizing pancreatitis.
