Responds to the related article, in which the author investigates the websites of acupuncture practitioners in New Zealand regarding direct or indirect claims of being able to assist with conditions that are listed under Section 58(1)(a) of the Medicines Act 1981, to see if therapeutic claims that may be considered inappropriate are a feature of the websites of companies and professionals offering acupuncture services. Explores some of the issues the article raises in the NZ therapeutics environment through the lens provided by the study. Argues that much diagnosis that occurs in medical practice must also rely on a lack of evidence.
