On the 29th day after being diagnosed with COVID-19, he developed haematemesis, for which he required a total of 17 units of blood transfusion over the course of his hospital stay. The mechanism of GIB in COVID-19 is poorly understood. Besides lungs and respiratory tract epithelium, ACE-2, the SARS-CoV-2 receptors, are also expressed in the enterocytes.
