Highlights • We examined the prevalence of GAD antibodies in patients with cryptogenic epilepsy. • High titres of GAD antibodies (Ab) were found in 6 of 112 (5.4%) patients. • CSF analysis showed intrathecal GAD Ab and oligoclonal bands in all. • Immunotherapy (steroids, plasma exchange and IVIg) did not improve seizure control.
