During the author's reflection on the relationship of alphabetic writing with language, it has always seemed that the first was in exact relation with the advantages of the second, and that the adoption and development of the alphabet , even the kind of alphabet and perhaps also its invention, depended on the degree of perfection of the language and, more originally, on the linguistic dispositions of each nation.
