Ljubljana, 21 August (STA) - Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel has welcomed Serbia's decision to freeze the sale of property of Slovene companies in Serbia dating back to the break-up of the former Yugoslavia. The auctions were postponed following the revelation that the previous Serbian government had adopted amendments to legislation on property nationalized after the break-up of Yugoslavia that would make it impossible for Slovene companies to recover property nationalized after 1991. Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel addressed a letter to his Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremic on Wednesday, voicing Slovenia's expectations that Serbia exempt Slovenian property from all further auctions and settle its legal status.
