Julian, Slovenia, is for a number of years registering a decline of population. The present unfavorable demographic structure is the heritage of emigration & changing of traditional social-economic models. It is linked with the distinctive peripheral & border position & with the very delicate nationality question. The aged demographic core of Julian, Slovenia, offers few development potentials. Development in the future can be built above all on a multi-layer integration with the wider space. Described & presented in the contribution is the demographic structure of Julian, Slovenia, on the basis of which demographic movements as a foundation for further development of the region are evaluated. 3 Figures, 2 Graphs, 20 References.
