    Have you found that those occurrences often involve not only individuals' differing views (including your own) but also a lack of alignment with-or even a lack of clarity related to-the organization's cultural norms? Former chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Earl Warren, said, "The man of character, sensitive to the meaning of what he is doing, will know how to discover the ethical paths in the maze of possible behavior," in a 1962 speech at the Louis Marshall Award Dinner of the Jewish Theological Seminary. In the modern world where conflicts abound and examples of power struggles and conflicts fill the news, the insights we gain by rising above the maze not only can help solve problems but also build leadership character.
