Some common ways in which collocations are treated in monolingual dictionaries for native & nonnative speakers, specialized collocational dictionaries, & bilingual dictionaries are reviewed & analyzed. These methods are largely the result of different approaches to collocations in the history of lexicologic studies. Some drawbacks & difficulties are also pointed out in the lexicographic treatment of collocations, resulting primarily from the complex nature of the lexical & semantic relationships among the words making up collocations, & some innovations that might bring about improvement in this field are identified. 14 References.
