    Journal Article

On the basis of geophysical survey from 2013 and systematic archaeological excavation since 2006, the potential of the Kalnik-Igrisce site was revealed, a the location that had been researched for years. A decision was made to research the remaining part of a terrace where a multilayered site had been determined from several prehistoric and historic periods, which have been extremely well preserved, especially in terms of the Bronze Age layer. This was how the decision to further excavate on the location in question was justified. This year, the aim of the research was to define the layout of the Bronze Age building which was full of mobile finds and valuable archaeobotanical finds, discovered as early as 2008. This season, given that the excavations included a large, multilayered site with complex archaeological records, earlier historical and prehistoric layers were detected and documented. A (late) medieval building was detected with well preserved architectural elements and relatively well preserved mobile material remains. After removing numerous layers created by erosion and forest vegetation (roots), a more intact archaeological situation could be observed with an assumed buried Bronze Age building. The next season of excavations could unveil the rest of the collapsed Bronze Age building unless it was destroyed by later interventions. Publication Abstract
