    Laringofaringealni refluks je trenutno nedovoljno istražena bolest, a smatra se da je djelomično odgovoran za nastanak bolesti grkljana. Nastaje povratom kiselog sadržaja iz želuca, ali postoje naznake o grkljanu kao mjestu stvaranja kiseline, uslijed djelovanja protonske pumpe u sluznici. U literaturi također postoji mali broj radova o detaljnoj morfometriji grkljana. Stoga je cilj ovog rada bio detaljno istražiti morfometrijske korelacije grkljana i utvrditi pojavnost protonske pumpe u različitim dijelovima grkljana. U radu je prisutnost protonske pumpe utvrđivana imunohistokemijskim dokazivanjem na uzorku od 50 kadavera i 11 živih pacijenata kod kojih je učinjena laringektomija. Morfometrijskom analizom dokazane su korelacije mjerenih parametara s ciljem dodatnog razumijevanja razvoja dijelova grkljana. Dokazana je prisutnost protonske pumpe u seromukoznim žlijezdama grkljana u području supraglotisa. Po prvi je put utvrđena prisutnost protonske pumpe u ljudskim hondrocitima štitne i epiglotične hrskavice. Dokazana ekspresija protonske pumpe ostavlja prostor za dodatna istraživanja laringofaringealnog refluksa, ali i patofiziologije hrskavičnih poremećaja. Laryngopharyngeal reflux is quite spread, but still not suffitiently investigated dissease that is at least partly connected to pathogenesis of other laryngeal disseases. It is generally known to be developed by upward recurrence of acid gastric content, but there are some signs that acid can be produced in larynx as well, because of the proton pump activity in the laryngeal mucosa. There is also quite small number of studies about detailed laryngeal morphometry.Theafore the goal of our study was to investigate laryngeal morphometric corelations and to identify the existance of proton pump in different parts of larynx.The presence of proton pump was determined by imunohistochemistry in a group of 50 cadavers and 11 live patients after laryngectomy. Morphometric analysis showed corelation between measured parameters for better understanding of development of laryngeal parts. The presence of proton pump was proved in seromucos glands in laryngeal supraglottic area, but it is also, for the first time, found in human hondrocites of thyroid and epiglottic cartilage.These new findings of proton pump expression open the space for additional research, not only of laryngopharyngeal reflux, but also the pathophysiology of cartilaginous disorders.
