Oct. 21--MERIDIAN --The stretch of shutouts came to an abrupt end on Friday as the Burley boys were defeated by the Sandpoint Bulldogs 3-2 in sudden-death overtime at the Boise Capitals Soccer Complex in Meridian. The loss knocked the Bobcats out of contention for the Class 4A state title. Ten minutes later, midfielder Martin Hernandez saw a clearing from about 25 yards out and took an unassisted goal. At 2-0, Burley looked safe, but the Bobcats defense was overpowered as Sandpoint scored two of its own unanswered goals. Alex Crossingham made a direct kick in the 63rd minute and a solo shot in the 72nd minute.
