The status of such photographs was rather modest: they were utilitarian, not art. Accordingly the simplest method of printing photographs was sometimes chosen, namely the cyanotype or blueprint. In our modern eyes, however, the intense blue colour is an aesthetic elementthat only enhances the image’s expressive power.- De fotografie werd na haar uitvinding al snel ingezet om de voortgang van bouwprojecten vast te leggen. Zulke foto’s hadden een heel bescheiden status: wel nuttig, geen kunst. Vandaar dat soms de eenvoudigste methode om foto’s af te drukken gekozen werd, de cyanotypie of blauwdruk.
