Vibration signal analysis of gear units

A crack in the tooth root often results in the failure of gear unit operation. It is the least desirable damage caused to gear units. By monitoringvibrations it is possible to identify a damage in ...gear units. Different methods of time signals analysis are presented. Signals have been acquired experimentally, using faulty and faultless gear units. Significant changes in tooth stiffness are caused by a fatigue crack in the tooth root. Dynamic response differs from the one in concern to an undamaged tooth. Amplitudes of the time signal are, by frequency analysis, presented as a function of frequencies in spectrum.
