  • Contagion effect globalisation [Elektronski vir] : financial crises
    Strašek, Sebastjan ...
The evidence reviewed in this paper confirms that the growing vulnerability in emerging market economies can be attributed to the surge in capital inflows and private investment. Financial crises of ... the 1990s have undoubtedly involved several interlinked phenomena, most of them seem to be very important for the future development of the emerging economies. The paper studies globalization, deregulation, and liberalization and its effects on the great instability and fragility of the emerging market economies. The authors examine this potential channel of financial crises in the context of increased integration of markets across countries. We find that contagious crises are an additional effect above and beyond those of domestic fundamentals. The paper examines determinants of financial crises in emerging markets, the causes behind vulnerability to crises and the appropriateness of various policy responses.
