Buckwheat is a cultural plant of Chinese origin, having existed in Europe since the middle Ages. Unfortunetly, it is still mostly considered an alimentary plant. It is also only rarely found in ... literature about medical plants. Flour from mature fruits was especially appreciated in the 17th and 18th centuries; today, it is still the most known buckwheat product. The fruits are a rich source of starch, proteins and vitamins of the B group. Proteins are mostly composed of essential amino acids, such as are indispensable for our organisms. Unlike herbs, the fruits have never been ascribed with medicinal effects.
