Slovene dyslexic students' attitudes towards the English language = Kako učenci z disleksijo dojemajo učenje angleškega jezika : magistrsko deloŠircelj, Katja, 1990-This paper discusses dyslexia and the attitudes of Slovene dyslexic students towards the English language. In the theoretical part of the paper, the differences between special educational needs and ... learning disabilities are presented. The first part of the paper also presents the Slovene legislation and acts that regulate the rights of students with special needs in Slovenia. In the theoretical part of the paper, there is also a chapter on some of the most common misconceptions about dyslexia. It is followed by a broader definition of dyslexia and the relationship between IQ, dyslexia and reading skills. The issue of identifying and diagnosing dyslexia is addressed as well as the literacy difficulties of dyslexic students. At the end of the theoretical part, the foreign language acquisition and the attitudes of dyslexic students are discussed. The empirical part of the thesis is dedicated to the case study, which provides the insider information on the language learning experience of Slovene dyslexic students. The findings of the research are the following: different students have different language learning experiences and consequently different attitudes towards the English language. Some dyslexic students have a rather negative attitude towards English because they have to study hard to acquire vocabulary and grammatical structures; other dyslexics enjoy learning the language because they feel equal to other students when speaking or reading in the foreign language, because they are not the only person in the classroom who makes mistakes when reading or writing.Type of material - master's thesis ; adult, seriousPublication and manufacture - Ljubljana : [K.
