Analysis of gear vibration for diagnosis of gear assemblies

From the reported measurements and analyses done with modern measuring equipment and own computer software for digital signal analysis it can be concluded that it is possible to observe the ...characteristic changes in the frequency spectrum generated by the fatique crack growth in the gear tooth root. The changes are in the form of signal amplitude increase at the frequency of gear engagement and its side band frequencies together with the change in some characteristic values in the time and frequency domain, e.g. the RMS value.
