Časovni potek imunskega odziva pri eksperimentalni okužbi z Borrelio burgdorferi s. l. = The time course of the immune response after experimental infection with Borrelia burgdorferi s. l.

We investigated the development of humoral and cell-mediated immune response after experimental infection of mice with Borrelia afzelii, Borrelia garinii in Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stric-to. The ...level of specific antibodies was determinated by ELISA and cell-mediated immunity observed by lymphocyte proliferation assay. The current study showed, that infected mice developed humoral and cell mediated immune response. In our experiments ELISA and lymphocyte proliferation assay showed high levels of accuracy in confirming borrelia infection in mice. We conclude, that described methods are sensitive and specific enough, to be of assistance in confirming diagnosis of Lyme disease in humans, particularly in cases with atypical clinical manifestations.
