  • Scintigrafija skeleta - indikacije, ki so v rokah zdravnika družinske medicine = Bone scintigraphy: what general practitioners should know about clinical indications
    Fettich, Jurij
Bone scintigraphy is a very sensitive test and is therefore frequently used asone of the first methods, and sometimes even a screening method, in patientsin whom the skeleton is suspected of having ... been affected. Indicationsfor this investigation belong in primary patient care and should beknown and used by general practitioners. The most common indications for outpatient bone scintigraphy are: pain in the bones which cannot be differentiated by regular bone radiography (normal or nonspecific bone X-rays), determination of the osteoblastic activity of asymptomatic lesion found accidentally on bone X-rays, and planned follow-up of a known bone disease. Since bone scintigraphy is highly sensitive, its specificity is low. Therefore additional more specific scintigraphic methods (e. g. the use of tumor-seeking agents) or complementary radiological investigations, including CT and MRI are frequently necessary to arrive at a final diagnosis.
