    Colonic angiodysplasias frequently develop in patients with end-stage renal disease, especially in hemodialysis patients, and is a common source of gastrointestinal bleeding. This report describes a ... hemodialysis patient who suffered chronic, occult and occasionally massive gastrointestinal bleeding necessitating frequent blood transfusions. Since endoscopic ablation was not successful and the patient refused to undergo colon resection, pharmacologicaltreatment with the antifibrinolytic agent tranexamic acid was attempted. Successful management of both chronic and acute bleeding was achieved. Bleeding had recurred after the withdrawal of tranexamic acid but disappeared after repeated treatment. No complications in terms of arterial and venous thrombosis were observed. It seems reasonable to attempt treatment with tranexamic acid in dialysis patients with bleeding from colonic angiodysplasias that are not amenable to endoscopic treatment.
