  • Multipla skleroza in nosečnost = Multiple sclerosis and pregnancy
Horvat, Alenka, 1967- ; Šega, Saša, dr. med., nevrologinja, 1962-
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common chronic inflammatory, demyelinatingand autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. It is the most common cause of chronic neurological disability in ... young adults. MS is more common in women and usually starts in the childbearing period. The numberof relapses usually decrease during pregnancy and increase after delivery. Pregnancy does not appear to affect the long term progression of MS.Immunomodulatory and symptomatic treatment of MS is contraindicated during pregnancy and nursing. In the postpartum period, women are treated with intravenous immunoglobulins to reduce the incidence of postpartum relapse.
