    Scintigraphy with labelled leukocytes is an imaging procedure in nuclear medicine which localises inflammatory activity. In gastroenterology, it is mostly used in patients with inflammatory bowel ... disease (IBD) and in those with suspected abdominal abscess. Due to numerous advantages 99mTc-labelled leukocytes are preferentially used. In IBD patients, the disease activity and localisation is assessed with high sensitivity. Sensitivity is also high for abdominal abscess localisation. Labelled leukocyte scintigraphy is a complementary diagnostic modality to endoscopic and radiologic procedures and contributes importantly to management of patients with suspected intraabdominal inflammatory process.
