  • Okoljsko načrtovanje produktov
    Petek, Janez ; Glavič, Peter
Eco design can be defined as resource, context and future oriented product development to bring on the market redesigned and new products which have to meet the demands of the Agenda 21 and ... sustainable development. In the article different levels of product development are described. Which technique should be used depends on the type of the product and its life cycle. Several approaches to product development can be used: pollution prevention, cleaner production, optimization, recycling, reuse, disassembling, end of pipe, etc. To begin with, complete analysis of life cycles to be carried out including the end of life scenario. The eco design is followed by an environmental innovation scan for assessing and establishing the priorities of ecological improvements. Eco designers usually use the life cycle strategies wheel (LiDS) which indicates the different strategies of reducing environmental loading of the product. Much faster and easier is the use of Eco indicators which indicate the greenhouse effect, tha damaging of the ozone layer, the damage caused by acid rain and manure, smog and toxic elements. Eco design principles serve as a useful tool to reduce the environmental impact of the product in the enitire life cycle, to improve product quality and improve the market position.
