Abstract
Based on the previously published researches of the phenomenon of populism and its presence in the Republic of Croatia, and using methodological contents analyis matrix, which has been ...developed by B. Šalaj and M. Grbeša Zenzerović, this paper deals with the research of the presence of populism in the early Parliamentary election held in 2016. The researches of the phenomenon of populism have been intensified on both local and global level, and populism, as a concept, is becoming increasingly present in social and political discourse. However, everyone and everything is then easily classified as populistic. In the context of the Republic of Croatia, which has been through numerous state orders throughout its political history, this paper is going to examine if there was populism, as an aspect of political action, in the 2016 elections, and it is going to potentially identify the political actors, who have been using populistic features in their political careers. Furthermore, it is going to examine which kind of populism it is.
The author of this paper presents a statistical analysis of data on realized profits of companies in the tourist sector, whose shares are listed on the Zagreb Stock Exchange and used for active ...trading. Data on the realized profit for the companies in accounting period 2010 - 2015 is correlated with the prices of shares. Based on the above obtained results about the direction and strength of this correlation the author concludes about the extent to which the market takes into account profit of the companies as a relevant indicator for investments. This information can be extremely significant because, on the one hand, it provides information about the functionality of the market as a comprehensive socio-economic mechanism that anticipates all the available information based on which the prices of the shares are created as a monetary expression of the presumed value of companies. On the other hand, this information tells us about the expectations of active market participants about the future development of the tourism sector, which already accounts for almost 20% of the Croatian GDP. In addition, the author examines what other explanations could be used for the part of variance which is not explained with the correlation between profit and price of shares.
In this paper, the author presents and argues the thesis that Thomas Piketty's fiscal solution to social inequality, presented in the book Capital of the 21st Century, is primarily the result of ...worldviews of the author of the book, and only to a lesser extent the result of the economical and statistical analysis of a large number of data series, which makes this book extremely important in the professional community. In addition, the author provides a number of possible different (and even opposite) solution models that would, in the context of Piketty's arguments presented in the book, have the same effect, but would approach the social reality in a very different way. Finally, the author finds that the wealth of options that can be accessed on the topic of social inequality is the indication of its relevance.
Inicijativa triju mora kao neformalna politička platforma 12 novijih punopravnih država članica Europske unije, a čiji je glavni cilj realizacija konkretnih projekata u područjima infrastrukture, ...energetike i digitalizacije, od svog samog nastanka otvorila je brojna ekonomska, politička i geopolitička pitanja. Osim njih, ova inicijativa predstavlja i prvi pravi međunarodni multilateralni iskorak hrvatske gospodarske diplomacije, čime smo ušli u svojevrsni još neistraženi model djelovanja. Hoće li ona pretvoriti RH u prepoznatljiv subjekt europske gospodarske diplomacije koji stvara nove spone među europskim narodima ili će produbiti već postojeće podjele unutar Europe, glavni je predmet interesa ovoga rada. Autor preispituje stav o tome može li RH kroz Inicijativu triju mora realizirati neke, ili čak sve, projekte iz kataloga projekata koji se odnose na nju. Dodatno, autor provjerava može li ova inicijativa biti izvor za prepoznavanje postojećeg i/ili stvaranje novog hrvatskog (geo)političkog identiteta. Uz to, u ovom radu postavlja se teza kako je hrvatsko sudjelovanje u ovoj Inicijativi objašnjivo i nekim odabirima koje je Hrvatska činila tijekom svoje daljnje i bliže prošlosti.
Autor u ovome radu istražuje temu trgovanja vodom na financijskim tržištima koja je ponovno aktualizirana predstavljanjem vodnog indeksa oznake NQH2O na burzi NASDAQ u New Yorku, krajem 2020. godine. ...U tekstu se postavljaju 4 temeljna pitanja vezana uz temu vode i njezinog trgovanja na uređenom tržištu kapitala te se na njih nude odgovori i to s pozicija dviju suprotstavljenih grupacija: s jedne strane tržišnih aktera koji u trgovini izvedenicama – futures ugovorima, temeljenih na vodi kao vezanoj imovini, vide mnoge poslovne benefite; te s druge strane onih koji u trgovanju takvim financijskim instrumentima vide opasnost za pravni status vode koji bi se u svojoj konačnici mogao nepovoljno odraziti na ukupnu populaciju ljudi. Ponuđeni argumenti i jedne i druge strane pokazuju da ne postoje konačni odgovori na postavljena pitanja niti rješenja za probleme koji očito u stvarnosti postoje. Dodatno, može se uvidjeti i to da je razina razumijevanja između ovih dviju skupina vrlo niska, s brojnim međusobnim predbacivanjima. Cilj ovoga rada je prepoznati otvorena pitanja te kroz ponudu različitih, a ponekad i oprečnih odgovora na njih, ipak potaknuti daljnji dijalog, kako bi nam svima u budućnosti bilo bolje. Jer voda je život.
Nastavno na prethodno objavljena istraživanja fenomena populizma i njegove prisutnosti u Republici Hrvatskoj, a koristeći istu metodološku matricu za analizu sadržaja, rad se bavi istraživanjem ...prisutnosti populizma na prijevremenim izborima za zastupnike u Hrvatski sabor, održanim 2016. godine. Istraživanja fenomena populizma lokalno, ali i globalno sve se više intenziviraju, te populizam kao pojam postaje sve prisutniji u društveno-političkom diskursu, pri tome često, ali i olako karakterizirajući sve i svakoga kao populiste. U kontekstu Republike Hrvatske, a koja je u svojoj političkoj povijesti prošla kroz razna državna uređenja, ovaj rad će istražiti je li populizam kao vid političkog djelovanja bio prisutan na izborima 2016. godine i identificirati političke aktere koji su se u svojem djelovanju koristili populističkim obilježjima, te o kojoj vrsti populizma se radi.
In this paper the author explores the topic of trading water on financial markets, which has resurfaced with the presentation of the NQH2O water index on the NASDAQ stock exchange in New York at the ...end of 2020. The paper poses 4 fundamental questions related to the topic of water and its trading on an regulated capital market, offering answers from two opposing groups’ viewpoints: market actors who see plentiful business benefits in trading futures contracts based on water as an underlying asset on the one hand, and those who see endangerment of the legal status of water in trading with such financial instruments, which could lead to adverse effects on the entire population of people on the other hand. The offered arguments from both sides show that there are no final answers on the posed questions, nor are there solutions for the problems that obviously exist in reality. Additionally, it is obvious that the level of understanding between these two groups is very low, with numerous reproaches from both sides. The purpose of this paper is to recognise the open questions and offer various, and sometimes opposing answers to them in order to initiate a further dialogue, with a purpose of a better future for all of us, because water is life.
